George Washington Carver National MonumentLocation: Diamond, MO
Architect / Engineer: Chamberlin Architects
Located in Diamond, Missouri, George Washington Carver National Monument is a part of the National Park Service and attracts more than 75,000 visitors annually. This project required us to take the small 1960’s era visitors center and make it five times bigger without ruining its architectural character. The building features reclaimed oak flooring, ornate woodwork, fir ceilings and full views to the tall prairie grass. The new Education Center can easily accommodate 75 to 100 students and offers educational programs for schools and self-guided programming to the public.
